Clinical Electives

Traditionally, medical school curricula are largely prescribed, with little free time for students to explore their individual interests. But, by the time, the medical curriculum changed, and the approach for medical education tends to the individual interests.It is increasingly recognized that the educational process requires both time for reflection and time for pursuit of special interests. and students in the final year, before becoming a medical doctor, are encouraged to make an initial and important step, for further career development by choosing their own subject to be involved and learned . Therefore, many medical schools around the world provide Clinical Elective Program to acomodate these desires.

Clinical Electives in Faculty of Medicine, Andalas University, Padang, Indonesia

The Clinical Electives in Faculty of Medicine Andalas University is offered for overseas students of clinical years’ study and graduates from any medical school abroad who are interested in Clerkship in Dr.M Djamil Central General Hospital. This program is arranged to accommodate medical student who wish to increase their knowledge on certain tropical diseases that are prevalent in Indonesia and most South East Asian countries. Candidates may also choose one or some of the available additional programs they are interested in.

Requirement for Clinical Electives

• your Clinical Electives undergo in the same condition in IFMSA Exchange Student. you could read our Exchange Condition in this website http://ifmsa.net/public/ecscope.php?id=89
• you will receive the same privileges as IFMSA Exchange Student.
• ALL students need to fullfill the required document which are:
• 1. Official Letter of Recommendation from student's DEAN to the HOSTING University, containing the point that student is RECOMMENDED to join clinical exchange in X, X, and X Department in HOSTING UNIVERSITY as noted in student's priorities
  2. proof of enrollment
  3. Student's Transcript. This is a list of your exams marks.. Again, PLEASE do those THREE documents OFFICIALLY and don't forget to PUT DEAN STAMP on them.
  4. a copy of passport
  5. a copy of language certificate
  6. a letter of motivation
  7. a curriculum vitae
  8. a copy of the health insurance
  9. 3 passport sized pictures
  10.a copy of health statement that you are free from any disease
  
• Send the soft copy by email to Local Exchange Officer 2 months before the stipulated date for Clinical Electives and Bring the hard copy document UPON ARRIVAL
• Pay 330 Euro/4 weeks for Clinical Electives fee UPON ARRIVAL. it will cover your tuition fee, boarding, lodging, and social program

How to Apply?

• Contact Local Exchange Officer (LEO) for incoming for the available position
• Fill the Application form (AF). You can download the application form in this site
• Send By Email the AF along with the soft copy required document to SCOPE CIMSA FK UNAND email, 2 months in advance before the stipulated date
• Wait until LEO for incoming send the Official Invitation Letter (IL)
• Bring the Clinical Electives fee along with the hard required document UPON ARRIVAL
